2015 Governor’s Public Service Summer Internships with IDEM

The Department of Environmental Management is participating in and now accepting applications for the 2015 Governor’s Public Service Summer Internship program. This program provides interns the opportunity to work with state agency officials, as well as participate in a Speakers Series which features various elected officials, state agency directors and other government representatives. Governor’s Summer Interns will spend at least 50 percent of their time on a predetermined project that enhances college-level skills and abilities.

To be considered for the internship program, candidates must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education. Students who are graduating in May 2015 are eligible to apply.

The 2015 Governor’s Summer Internship program recipients are paid a rate of $11.30 per hour. Students interested in receiving college credit for the intern opportunities should contact their school’s career/internship office for guidelines. The program runs from May to August. Interns will be able to pick from a few start dates and then an end date that best fits their schedule, however, the intern’s last day cannot be later than the end of August. Interested students must submit an online application for the specific internship(s) of choice via the State of Indiana job bank. Students must complete all fields in the application. Each field pertaining to the degree which they are pursuing (including an expected graduation date) must be completed in the Education section of the application even if they copy/paste/attach their resume. If students do not fill out all sections, the application will be marked as incomplete and will not be considered.

The deadline to submit an application is March 1, 2015. The intern positions are posted to external applicants only.
