Thea Bowman Leadership Academy (TBLA) Charter School will have two School Board vacancies beginning July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2016.   Any citizen interested in serving on the Board should submit a letter of interest and a resume or vita addressed to:  Drexel Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc., P. O. Box 4661, Gary, IN  46404 on or before April 30, 2013.

Regular monthly meetings of the TBLA School Board are held on the last Wednesday of each month (4^th or 5^th), 6:00 p.m., in the elementary building cafeteria, 975 W. 6^th Avenue, Gary.  Regular attendance at monthly meetings is a requirement. 

Characteristics desired for effective leadership on the TBLA School Board include, but are not limited to:

Industry: Willingness to commit the time and energy to the work that needs to be done;

Level of Interest: Willingness to support the school through serviceand positive contacts with the community-at-large; 

Leadership: Proven skills in business, the professions, trades or life experiences;

Versatility: Proven ability to work harmoniously with those of diverse opinions, cultures, backgrounds;

Knowledge: Familiarity with the general goals of education and the educational needs of the greater Gary community.
